Meet Dr. Helena Cepparo

Fertility talk isn’t just about charts and lab coats, but also about the everyday ups, downs, and hopes that come with navigating reproductive health.

I’m Dr. Helena Cepparo, a Consultant Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist who has spent over 20 years alongside women and couples on their fertility journeys. I qualified and trained as a specialist in Italy, and my path took me further afield over the years — across Italy, Canada, Japan and the UK. More than a decade ago I made the UK my home, where I’m registered with the GMC and on the Specialist Register. I consult in English and Italian (and speak French too), so a conversation this personal can happen in your own language.

My hands learned fertility the demanding way. I started out in in-vitro maturation (IVM) — among the most technically challenging egg retrievals there is. Thousands of cycles later — stimulation, egg collection and embryo transfer, diagnostics such as HyCoSy, and a large number of intraovarian PRP procedures — there’s very little in the clinic or the theatre that’s unfamiliar to me. That hands-on experience is the quiet confidence behind everything I write here.

I practise evidence-based medicine, and I’m also trained in Functional Medicine (AFMCP-certified). In plain terms, I don’t stop at “your results are normal.” I look for the root cause — across hormones, metabolism, immunity, nutrition and lifestyle — and build a plan around the whole person in front of me, not a protocol. Sometimes the answer is IVF; sometimes it’s the handful of things that should happen first.

Fertility science moves fast, and I never tire of keeping up with it — reading the new research, questioning old assumptions, and bringing what genuinely holds up into my practice. I see patients in person at a private clinic on Harley Street, London, in their own homes across London through Medelit (the UK- and Italy-based home healthcare service I founded), and by video wherever you are in the world. My favourite role, though, is still being “that doctor” who turns complex science into something you can actually use.
